Seminole Oranges

About 200 hundred years ago, oranges in North America were sour. The Indians used to put honey and lemon juice on them before they ate them.  I love these.

Stuff you’ll need for this recipe:

Oranges with the peel still on (Enough for everyone)
Honey
Lemon juice (I like those plastic lemons with juice inside best. They’re fun.)
Small knife
Spoon
Cereal bowl
Plate or napkin (paper is fine for both)

How to make it:

Cut off the top 1/3 of the orange.
This part is a little tricky so be careful not to poke a hole in the orange peel.
Put your knife inside the orange just inside the skin and cut around the juicy orange part that you eat. Then take your spoon and scoop out the orange. It’s OK. The pieces will break as you get them out. Put the pieces in the bowl.
Put the empty orange peel on the plate or napkin. We’ll use it as a bowl in a minute.
To the oranges in the bowl, add one spoonful of honey for each orange and one spoonful of lemon juice.
Stir it all up.
Spoon the orange pieces back into the empty orange peels.
Use the same spoon to eat it.
