Send a gift anonymously to a soldier. We’ll make arrangements with the hospital and make sure it gets there.

You choose the hospital, we’ll do the rest. Here’s a link to help you find all the military hospitals in the US.

Shop With Your Heart

This month the Soul Food Market is proud to support men and women by offering hope and encouragement to those who are battling breast cancer. For the month of October, the Soul Food Market needs your help in telling the world about breast cancer. The Soul Food Market is asking survivors to send in their personal, family, or friends’ stories to be posted on our website.

Our intention is to let men and women know that they are not alone in their fight and that they are loved and supported by their community. Stories can be e-mailed to Diane@theSoulFoodMarket.com.

As an added incentive, the Soul Food Market will send a thank you gift and a coupon to those who are willing to share their stories.

Donating to the community is one of the Soul Food Market’s top priorities.

I love the long days of summer. There’s nothing like going to bed around 9:00 p.m. (while the sun is still up!) Be sure to bring your favorite book, a tall glass of fresh squeezed limeade with a handful of cherries tossed in and a Mitford Marmalade muffin-cake.

I love reading and chuckling to Jan Karon’s books. They make me want to live in Mitford. Her cookbook is the best. Father Tim’s beef stew has bacon in it. I haven’t made it yet, but it sounds incredible!

I’m finally tilling my vegetable garden. We will plant many things including pumpkins and corn. My favorite part is seeing the beautiful pumpkin flowers. They’re even better than zucchini flowers.

I’m also looking for loofah sponge gourd seeds. Those make INCREDIBLE flowers.

If you haven’t already….start that garden. It adds zing to your summer and flavor to your table.
