Hickory Flat woman opens ‘muffin’ ministry
Diane Oberkrom, who lives in Hickory Flat, has begun a home-based business called Soul Food Inc., a ministry of homemade muffin-cakes, cookies and other baked goods.
Each piece is baked with prayer and individually wrapped with a Bible verse specific to the customer’s request. The order is then shipped via UPS to the recipient.
Oberkrom said she was inspired to start the business following the death of her husband in 2005, when friends, neighbors and family comforted her with love, food and baked goodies. Her desire, she said, is to spread God’s word in a ministry that provides strength, hope, encouragement and love with food that comforts the soul.
